Bondi Beach has closed after health officials declared no more than 500 people can be on the beach at a time. A decision by lifeguards was made to close Bondi Beach as they simply do not have the resources to continually count numbers and deny entry when the number is exceeded.
It was "Business as usual" at Bondi Beach with thousands descending upon the sand, water and grassy areas. "Social Distancing" was the last thing on many minds as many just enjoyed the seasonably hot day.
Waverley police are investigating an alleged assault on Bondi Rd in Bondi Junction overnight which has ended with a man needing hospital treatment. Police are searching for the offender. The incident occurred at around 3.30am. The man was transported in a stable condition with suspected abdominal injuries.
Emergency services responded to numerous triple zero calls at around 11.45pm after smoke and flames were impacting a unit in Dangar Place in Chippendale. It took around an hour to extinguish the blaze which destroyed the property. Around 80% of the property was impacted by fire and the remaining by heat and smoke.
A man has drowned and a female rescued after a large wave swept them off rocks in Bondi Beach this afternoon. Emergency services and lifeguards rushed to the scene but could not locate the man who was underwater near the edge of the rocks.
Emergency services responded to Military Rd and Raleigh St Dover Heights this evening after reports of a two car accident. One male was treated prior to being transported to hospital in a stable condition. One child was treated on scene and released with no injures.
A few locals and tourists braved the conditions as the sea and rain ran up the cliff face at Diamond Bay during a NSW east coast low storm. Winds exceeding 90km/h and wind driven rain impacted the coast line.
