Man trapped following head on crash in Randwick
A 33-year-old man was rescued following a head on crash on Coogee Bay Rd in Coogee at 8.10pm last night.
The man was trapped by compression after the dashboard compressed his legs following impact.
Fire & Rescue NSW methodically cut into the sedan, first removing the roof then proceeded to push the dashboard outwards utilising a hydraulic ram. During this operation Paramedics worked to stabilise the patient.
The technical rescue took over an hour.
A specialist medical team sedated the man at the scene prior to transport.
A witness stated he believed the man crashed into another car prior to colliding head on with a van.
Paramedics departed the scene for hospital at around 10.30pm
The man will undergo mandatory testing for drugs and alcohol.
